Dance offered in 60-minute classes in Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Acro, Lyrical and Hip Hop. All classes begin with a warm-up to prepare the dancers’ bodies for class by increasing flexibility, strength, endurance and balance. Dancers continue to build with progressions across the floor further developing their technique. Increasing self-confidence and physical activity is key in raising healthy dancers.
Classes Offered: Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Acro, Hip Hop & Lyrical
Ballet: Ballet is the foundation of all dance technique and is carried over in most all dance forms. We teach the value of technique, discipline and tradition of Ballet. Dancers are inspired to refine the technique in order to grow as a dancer. Benefits of ballet include flexibility, strength, balance and agility, while increasing focus and body awareness.
Jazz: Jazz is an upbeat energetic style of dance often using popular music. Jazz dancing helps to build co-ordination and can help dancers discover their own personal style. Dancers will increase the technique they have learned in previous years and our new dancers will learn the basics and will then build upon them. Dynamic and energetic, Jazz combines technique and style to create an exhilarating dance form.
Tap: Tap incorporates both musicality and coordination. Using a variety of music styles from different genres and different eras; dancers learn to refine their musicality, rhythm and to communicate through sound. We educate our students in the classical tap of yesteryear and the progressive tap of today.
Acro: A unique form of dancing, Acrobatics combines the skills of gymnastics with the artistry and grace of dance. Students will gain strength, flexibility and dynamic ability through their development of acrobatic tricks. Students enrolling in Acro are also required to take a Jazz class.
Lyrical: A technical form of dance using a diverse range of music to explore different ways of telling stories through movement. Dancers are encouraged to explore communication through movement. Students enrolling in Lyrical are required to take a Ballet or Jazz class as well.
